Easy recipes that make the most of fresh and seasonal ingredients

About Me

Welcome to my food blog! I am Sara, the creator of The Recipe Press. I am a mom who loves to cook and bake with seasonal ingredients while keeping things simple! All my recipes are made with easy to find ingredients and are full of flavor. I have had a passion for cooking and baking since childhood and worked in the food industry through college (In fact, my first job was McDonalds).

I love to create a variety of recipes from baking to dinners. Some are healthy. Some are more indulgent. All are made with lots of love.

Why the focus on season recipes?

There are a few reasons I love to keep my recipes focused on seasonal produce. Here are just a few benefits to buying seasonal produce!

Taste better: Seasonal produce usually taste better! Although you can often find produce year-round, if you buy what’s in season, it spends less time in transit and will be fresher. Therefore, it will taste better!

Support Local Farmers: Choosing recipes that focus on seasonal produce can help support your local farmers! Locally sourced produce is not only good for you, but also good for the local community. And added bonus! It is usually cheaper for you to buy produce in season!

Healthier: Nutrients are often at their peak when picked at the perfect ripeness. And because buying local, fresh produce does not have to spend as much time in transit, they do not have to be harvested prior to reaching the optional ripeness for nutrients.

Variety: When you start cook and bake with seasonal ingredients, you might find that you are actually getting more variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet. Of course, you can still enjoy your favorite foods but also taking advantage of fresh and seasonal produce will challenge you to eat a greater variety!

A little more about me and how The Recipe Press was born

On a personal note, I live in Southern California with my husband, two beautiful daughters, and two crazy dogs. I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and worked in healthcare setting until my first daughter was born 4 years ago. After she was born, I became a stay-at-home mom, and only 18 months later, my second daughter joined the family. During the early days of motherhood with two littles, I struggled with finding time for my own hobbies.

It was finally when my youngest was a little over one, I started to realize I needed to invest in time for myself. And that is where The Recipe Press was born. I started to cook and bake again, developing my own recipes as I went along. And I started to share my creations on my Instagram account. And shortly after, I started to create this Blog.

Whether you have been following along since the beginning or are new here, I truly hope that you will be inspired to try some recipes you find here on my little piece of the internet.

XOXO,

Sara at The Recipe Press
