Why you will love these goat cheese stuffed figs with pistachios and hot honey

Easy to make: No bake time and only 10 minutes to whip up, these appetizers are one of the easiest fig recipes you will find!

Simple ingredients: This late summer and early fall recipe only calls for a handful of ingredients! The stuffed figs themselves are only made up of the basil whipped goat cheese, figs, pistachios, and hot honey. And you only need four ingredients to make the whipped goat cheese!

Beautiful presentation: I personally think figs are a beautiful fruit. They have the ability to transform any dish into something elegant. And this fresh fig appetizer is no exception! It is a show stopping bite of deliciousness!

Full of flavor: This sweet fresh fruit is packed with flavor from the basil goat cheese, pistachios and hot honey! The creamy goat cheese is whipped up with basil, honey and olive oil. This combination with the figs is a perfect match! And love the salty crunch the pistachios brings while the hot honey adds a touch of spicy!

Tips and tricks when making these goat cheese stuffed figs

Before you wash up those figs and whip together the goat cheese, here are some tips and tricks for success!

  1. Select figs that are just ripe! If they are overly ripe, they may not hold up well to being filled with the creamy goat cheese. I found that both larger and smaller figs worked well, however, you may find the smaller figs are easier to eat in a few bites.
  2. You can use any variety of figs you can find or love! Black mission figs are common, but you can switch it up and use brown turkey figs or even tiger stripe figs!
  3. These taste the best when freshly made! If you are looking to make them in advance, you can fill the figs with goat cheese, and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Add the pistachios and hot honey when ready to enjoy! I found the pistachios get stale and lose their crunch if you add them in advance.
  4. When making the basil whipped goat cheese, use a food processor to get it smooth! And after you mix all the ingredients together, give it a taste! You can add more basil or honey based on your personal preference!

Ingredient substitutions and variations

The list of ingredients is short on this easy fig appetizer, but here are some ideas for ingredient swaps if needed!

Pistachios: If you are looking for another nut to replace the pistachios, you could use toasted pine nuts or crushed walnuts in place of the pistachios.

Goat cheese: The nutty flavors of the goat cheese pairs well with the figs but you would swap it out for feta cheese. The texture will be similar to using the goat cheese and hold up well in the figs.

Hot Honey: Switch the hot honey out for regular honey!
