The Winemaker Burger

This tasty burger makes me think of I am sitting out by a vineyard, sipping on a glass of wine, and taking a bite of this brie cheese smothered burger. Hense, the name, the winemaker burger.

Although there is only a little bit of wine in this burger, it gives all those vineyard vibes. The juicy burger is covered in creamy brie cheese, topped with red wine onions, and fresh arugula. Oh, and the sauce? Let’s talk about it! It is a combo of mayo, roasted red peppers, garlic and lemon juice. It truly pulls the whole burger together.

I am going to fully honest here…I need more work on photographing burgers! So I do not have many mouthwatering pictures. But don’t let my lack of burger photography keep you from giving these summer burgers a try! You will feel like you are eating a gourmet burger from a restaurant…but from the comfort of your own home!

Helpful tips while making this burger

Before you fire up the grill, here are some helpful tips when creating this burger at home.

  1. If you don’t have red wine, no worries! You can skip it and just sauté the onions. They will still be delicious on the burger with the sauce and brie cheese.
  2. When mixing the burger meat together, mix until just combined, then shape into the patties. Overmixing the meat can result in less tender burgers.
  3. Your sauce thickness greatly depends on the brand of mayo you use! I have made this several times using different brands and there was some variation. But do not be worried, it will taste great!
  4. I use jarred roasted red peppers to save time! But if prefer, you can make your own roasted red pepper. The recipe uses 1 whole red bell pepper.
  5. You can cook the burger patties on the grill, skillet or air fryer. Choose the method that works best for you.
  6. Add the brie cheese about the last 2 minutes of cooking the patties. You want the cheese to be get melty but not completely melted off the burgers.
  7. And while talking about the creamy brie cheese, you can choose the leave the rind on or removing it when slicing it. The rind will be more pronounced once the cheese has melted onto the patties, but that is totally ok! However, if this bothers you, cut if off before placing on the hamburgers.
